H.R. 3962 passes in the House Saturday night with 2 votes to spare 220-215. Here is the complete bill in all it’s glory.
Let me go on record with one simple comment:
This is a well-intentioned bill that is horribly constructed that will increase healthcare costs, increase the deficit and cost us jobs, and if the Senate passes anything that resembles this bill we will have 100% nationalized healthcare in 5 years.
Personally, I think that is a bad thing. It will be really interesting to see how our population reacts once they truly understand the details in this bill. For once and for all, we can decide as a nation if we want a national healthcare system.
A couple of things that the public will learn if they take the time to understand this bill:
- The 27 million Americans who purchase individual health policies will be irate when the see their costs double.
- Millions of small employers will drop their current coverage and pay penalties instead, just like in Mass.
- Because insurers will be allowed to charge a 64 year old only 2 X the cost for an 18 year old, providing a great bargain for older people and really angering young people.
Not too mention the total cost of the bill and the fact that we will still have 10 million or more uninsured because the undocumented immigrants are not addressed at all in this bill.
Happy reading!!
