Ovation is Now OneDigital Health and Benefits

I am pleased to tell you that Ovation, a Digital Benefit Advisors company, is now OneDigital Health and Benefits.

In 2013 we announced our decision to join Digital Benefit Advisors, the advisory arm of Digital Insurance. We saw the move as a way to continue to do what we’ve always done best—stand as one with our clients and deliver forward-thinking strategies to help them succeed in an increasingly challenging world.

We recognize that the partnership created some confusion about our brand. Were we Ovation? Were we Digital? In fact, with such strong market recognition as Ovation, we held on to our name—probably a little too long. We weren’t too worried about being explicit; we knew from you that your biggest concerns were whether your client service team would remain the same, and could you continue to expect fresh-thinking, personal and responsive service. The answer to both questions was a resounding yes.

Three years later I am proud to say that many of our core consulting practices have become a part of the fabric of both how Digital Benefit Advisors and Digital Insurance BALLOONSserve our more than 35,000 clients.

In what I feel is an important evolutionary move, Digital Insurance and Digital Benefit Advisors are consolidating under one market facing name, OneDigital Health and Benefits. This unified new brand will feel a lot like the brand you have come to think of as a strategic partner since you joined our family. You’ll see a significant focus on our values, created in response to what we have learned from you over the years—that you want and need a benefits advisor who:

•    delivers fresh-thinking approaches to benefit plan design,
•    is invested in your success,
•    is responsive, optimistic and trustworthy,
•    works relentlessly to drive the impact you expect, and
•    is clearly invested in you, your people and your success

Over the next few weeks you can expect your client services team to reach out personally to share our new brand story with you. Meanwhile, join us in celebrating this next evolution of our national brand, and in particular, the fact that if anything, we are able to shine a brighter light on the core of what has always made us better as a benefits advisor—YOU.

Sincerely,

Brian Driscoll

Ovation Sponsors Klingberg Family Center’s Vintage Auto Show

Each June, Ovation is proud to sponsor the Klingberg Family Center’s Vintage Auto Show in New Britain, Connecticut. The show serves as a crucial part in Klingberg’s mission to help build healing relationships that empower children and families to reach their full potential. Each year, sponsors and hundreds of vintage car owners, raise significant funds to support the 2,500 persons Klingberg serves.

This past Saturday, nearly 5,000 people converged on Klingberg’s 40-acre campus to enjoy hundreds of amazing vintage cars, classic cars, and supercars, delicious food, great music, and entertainment.

As sponsors, Ovation team members Mary Coulter, Meghan Sloan, Haley Hart, Nicole Consiglio, Caitlin White, and Stephanie Esplin created and staffed a crafty kid-zone. Young ones of all ages had a great time crafting, coloring, and even posing in front of a car-themed photo booth!

Are Embedded If Statements Keeping You Up at Night?

If you clicked on this blog, chances are you either love Microsoft Excel, work in a risk based environment (such as insurance) or are just so confused by the title you thought you would explore the article for further insight. In any case, we’ll start with: what is an “embedded if statement?” Well for starters, it is one of the most confusing Excel formulas out there. These formulas are often avoided due to their complexity and messiness, but what people don’t understand, is how much “embedded if statements”  represent real life. Have you ever laid in bed at night thinking: “Did I lock the front door? What if I didn’t lock the front door? What if a robber comes to my front door and is able to open it? What if they steal my TV? What if I can’t afford to buy a new TV? Would insurance cover this claim? Did I pay the cable bill? Why can’t I fall asleep?”… Now that you’re thoroughly stressed out, consider this: think about a world where the future doesn’t depend on the past or a situation where there is effect without cause…kind of impossible, no? For example, would you still have a headache right now if you didn’t start reading this blog? The point is that the world is made of a gazillion “if statements,” each one building on the next to come up with a specific outcome. Sometimes the outcome is carefully executed by a tightly organized plan and sometimes it is more random, but nonetheless there is a cause and there is an effect. If you Google the term “embedded if statements” you will see a lot of references to the word “nested.” The idea that multiple conditions setup within each other creates an outcome, or in the Excel reference, an answer!
