Ovation Benefits Welcomes Summer 2011 Interns
June 30, 2011
Farmington, CT - Ovation Benefits, a national leader in workforce health improvement and one of the largest independent benefits brokers in the country, extends their warmest welcome to six college interns for the summer of 2011. This is the second year that Ovation has participated in an internship program. This year the organization has made several changes to establish a robust program which will serve to make the intern experience more impactful. This year, the interns' roles were determined in accordance with their specific academic strengths, allowing them to lend their various skills and capabilities to Ovation's innovative service offerings.
Connor Deneen is a sophomore at Bentley interested in majoring in business or accounting. Using his strong Excel skills and specific academic background, Connor will be working on maintaining and updating the Health Improvement spreadsheets alongside Carrie Balicki, AVP of Workforce Health Operations, Scott Dauphinee, and Brett Johnson, two of Ovation's financial analysts. His contribution will help Ovation to better identify potential prospective clients as well as maintain contact with existing clients.
Ryan Lucey is a rising senior at Arizona State University with a major in finance. His particular strengths have made him an invaluable resource to both the Financial and Sales teams. He is involved with lead qualification and maintenance of client updates in our sales database. He has also been a great resource to Senior Financial Analyst Loranna McDonnell with his efforts on updating information for annual reports used for client screenings.
Lauren Freisinger joined the intern program to provide support to our Health Improvement team due to her academic interest in health science and public health. She is working side by side with Carrie Balicki and Wellness Coordinator Nicole Consiglio in preparing screening report packages and screening materials for the Health Improvement department. She has also been tasked with transferring a variety of Power Points into a recently completed new format. Her role ties in to Ovation's success in their Risk Reduction classes as well as on all areas of Wellness and Health Improvement.
Another rising senior, Caroline Willis, comes to us from James Madison University with a major in Public Health. She is another integral member of the team tasked with updating contact information for both the Sales and Client Services team. She also has a hand in the preparation of the health assessment data packages alongside her fellow interns. Her endeavors at Ovation will be quantified in the number of potential prospects Ovation will be able to gain in the future.
Mike Smith attends Fairfield University and is about to embark on his sophomore year with a current academic focus in Business and International Studies. As part of the team tasked with updating sales databases, Mike has put considerable effort into qualifying leads and contact information. His role is yet another fundamental building block that directly translates to Ovation's success with future clients.
As the only returning member from Ovation's summer 2010 batch of interns, Kevin Butler is putting his Journalism degree to great use as Ovation adjusts to its growing Marketing department. His skills have been an asset to the Marketing team as he performs invaluable research on non-profit organizations, manufacturing associations and speaking engagement opportunities. Kevin is also involved in the new Ovation website project, pulling copy from the site and editing the information to prepare for the new website launch.
“The caliber of work that is demonstrated on a daily basis by these college students is remarkable,” says Allison Lantieri, Ovation's Marketing Director. “We continue to be impressed by their work ethic and the enthusiasm with which they approach each new project.”
It is with great excitement that we welcome this year's summer interns. Their diverse backgrounds and skill sets will certainly be an asset as Ovation moves forward into upcoming initiatives. Their efforts directly translate to the company's progress with current and future prospects as well as provide opportunity for growth as the company expands its services to new arenas.
